Multicom Security launches Multicom IP, a new monitored alarm service which combines the latest IP technology with alarm and data transmission. Multicom IP allows organisations to use their alarm connections for so much more than alarm system messages, such as the transmission of images and video or the remote management of access control systems.

“We are pleased to introduce this new addition to the successful Multicom Security range of monitored alarm services. It strengthens our service portfolio and offers an increased flexibility for companies and organisations wishing to benefit from integrating their alarm services with their new or existing IP data services.” says Andrew Carver, CEO at Multicom Security AB.

“It is crucial that the alarm system is working and therefore of extra importance that the alarm transmission is monitored, i.e. that the system continuously checks that the connection between the alarm panel and the Alarm Receiving Centre. Multicom IP enables us to combine alarm monitoring with IP technology which also allows images and video to be transmitted to the alarm centre,” added Torbjörn Ferndahl, product manager at Multicom Security.

Multicom IP is available in two versions, Multicom IP 500 and Multicom IP VPN. Both versions have optional GPRS/GSM wireless backup
The Multicom IP 500 service is provided over a dedicated access line through Multicom Security’s network, which is separate from the public Internet, protected by firewalls and encryption and has a bandwidth of up to 0.5 Mbps. Multicom Security’s alarm monitoring servers are duplicated and located at different sites with power back-up to ensure continuity of service.

Companies, organisations and authorities which operate at several different locations can use Multicom IP VPN, in which case you take advantage of investments already made by using the company’s own network or the town network for alarm transmission.

Besides alarms, Multicom IP can handle other critical communications such as access systems, CCTV and remote service management.
Multicom IP 500 and Multicom IP VPN can be ordered with integrated GPRS/GSM wireless backup which automatically takes over if, for any reason, the wire link is broken. With double paths for communication, powerful encryption and high availability, Multicom IP complies with the highest requirements for alarm transmission in accordance with European standards. In addition, Multicom Security has more than 220 ARC's connected to its alarm network.
