The Norwegian Police has selected Multicom Security Group and its Norwegian subsidiary Securinet as the supplier of a new mobile assault alarm. The alarm is intended for persons with a heightened level of threat and has both positioning and a monitored connection with the police. The contract has a duration of three years and is valued at NOK 20-35 M.

“This is a prestigious order for us and confirmation that we are the leader in Scandinavia for total solutions for monitored alarm connections,” says Anders Leideman, CEO of Multicom Security Group.

Mobile assault alarms are one of several steps being taken by the Norwegian Police in its work against unlawful threats. Anyone living under threat can be provided with an alarm unit that has a direct and monitored connection with the police, while the unit’s position can also be shown in the police map system.

The alarm unit shall function as an everyday tool in the same manner as a mobile phone, but specially adapted for its purpose. At the same time, the police made the demand that the technology be market-leading.

The contract has been signed between Securinet and Politiets Data- og Materielltjeneste (PDMT), following a public procurement process. Until the beginning of 2009, a test and pilot period will be conducted and, subsequently, the mobile assault alarm will be supplied on a larger scale.
